Hello!

You're tuned into the now-monthly Thought Shrapnel newsletter. Miss me? Feel free to forward a friend! Wondering why you're getting this? Here's the link to unsubscribe..

I'm composing this on Saturday late afternoon sitting at the end of our garden with the birds in the trees twittering around me. The afternoon sun is warm on my face, and the UK is on its way out of lockdown. I hope wherever you are, you're happy and well.

It's been a good month for me, all things considered. Obviously I can't share everything that's been going in and out of my brain, but what follows are some of the highlights.

Weeknotes

  • Weeknote 13/2021 "The main focal points of the week were a playback session for the Catalyst-funded sector challenge project I’ve been leading over the last 11 weeks, and...."
  • Weeknote 12/2021 "This week was the second of two weeks that our two children have spent in school since lockdown. It’s now the Easter holidays, and I’m planning..."

New side projects

I've previously given you updates about two side projects: eink.link and extinction.fyi which I'm still updating. I've added a third to a new projects page I've created on my personal website: privacy.garden.

From the announcement blog post:

I’m a big fan of news aggregator websites, and thought it was about time there was one related to online privacy that I would visit regularly.

I've since updated it a bit, so now it looks like this:

It's still not exactly how I want it, but I like the fact that turnin. into a monthly newsletter has allowed me to do a broader range of things.

Things I've been paying attention to

Oh my goodness, I've read so much stuff over the last month (as usual, I guess!).

Given that I went really deep on some issues that might not be particularly interesting to a broader audience (NFTs!) here's some eclectic highlights:

Until next month!
